The Salt Lake Tribune said BECKER’S BROADWAY THEATER GETS COUNCIL BOOST
and the Deseret news ran a story under the headline SALT LAKE CITY COUNCIL VOTES TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THEATER.
The outcome of the council meeting was no surprise, after the Council held a public hearing last week. The testimony from citizens was overwhelmingly in favor of building a new home for the performing arts. The Tribune reported THEATER LOVERS, BUSINESS GROUPS CRAVE BROADWAY LIGHTS IN SALT LAKE CITY
Salt Lake City has taken a big step towards establishing a twenty-first century home for the performing arts, towards making a major anchor for the downtown cultural district and towards adding a crucial piece in the process of reawakening Main Street. Congratulations to Mayor Becker and everyone who has worked so hard on this project for many years.

This is great news. I agree that it just adds to what we have, not that it takes anything away from smaller theatres. I have season tickets to Broadway in Utah but also attend several shows at Hale and Pioneer Theatre. I purchased Hale’s entire season this year and Pioneer’s last year. I choose which ones to purchase based on the shows scheduled.
